Unfinished Projects
I started this “sea swept” quilt back in 2016. I had been making a number of other quilts at the time (like we all do) when I wanted to do something a little different.id been working on a “Doctor Who” paper pieced quilt for my husband for his 21st (now 25 and still waiting) and I wanted something that would be a quick project. Well turns out, it wasn’t as quick as I thought it would be. I made a number of blocks and started to lay it out then calculated how many of each block I thought I would need, and let’s just say it’s a lot.
It’s been a fabulous scrap buster. When making other projects, if I happen to have a scrap or two left over it goes in the quilt draw (my way of organising projects). Then I go through and cut them down into the sizes I need for the different blocks. Once cut I’ve kept them organised in ziplock bags, definitely a blessing.
I’ve picked it up again this past weekend now that The Festival of Quilts is over. And thankfully there is Symposium next year so I can work hard on these UFOs, I’ve called next year “the year of the UFO” in the hopes of actually finishing the number of quilts I have started.
This will be my first fully paper pieced quilt, and although it will be a huge undertaking, I look forward to the finished project. I often lay it out in rows to see how it’s coming together, I love seeing the secondary patterns starting to emerge. The quilt is made from three main blocks, which together make an amazing pattern.

This is just one section of what will be an epic quilt
Until next time
